Car history: |
1968 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with a 427 cubic inch big block motor. Have confirmed by Corvette World of Sacramento that it is a true big block 427 car. This motor is the 390 horspower engine. We haven't deciphered all the numbers on the block, but have seen a 4 and 8 at the end of the block which matches the 4 and 8 on the vin. The problem there lies is there is no room for a 9 which is the last number. We are also in the process of looking for a build sheet if it still exists on top of the gas tank. Also deciphering the trim tag which is 411 for trim itself and 986 for paint we have discovered this is a Silverstone exterior with blue interior car originally. Car has a Edelbrock 4 barrell carburetor. The transmission is a turbo-hydramatic three speed transmission. Automatic shifter on the floor. Transmission and engine are top notch. Both in great working order. Rear bumper looks good too. The left rear wheel gut and quarter panel are cracked. Also the front fender piece on the left side is basically gone and cracked. Also damage to the pop up headlight enclosure on the left side. Worst damage and probably the worst thing about the car: The scoop is missing on the hood, but does come with the car, not shown. There is a ProMaster coil in the engine bay. Car is a project, though it runs and drives it does need extensive brake work. Glass is all there, solid throughout. Also both windows roll up and down fine. The rocker trim is however missing from both sides of the car. Car does have a clear title, but hasn't been on the road since 1992. It has been non-opt so the registration would not lapse. All the lights work, though the left tail light bulb is burned out. Also the vacuum assist on the headlights doesn't seem to be working. Horn doesn't work either. All the gauges are operational except for the clock. Car has an Alpine am/fm stereo cassette player. Power steering is standard. Wipers work, mister does not. Heater is all there with the core intat. Unsure if it works or not. Also it is an a/c car, but no compressor, just the hook up accessories under the hood. Red leather seats. Driver's seat needs re-upholstering, but passenger's seat looks okay. Center console where e-brake is cracked. Dash has a couple of small cracks on left side above steering column. Comes with solid red t-tops. Seals look good. And it appears it would not leak. Though my experience with t-tops are they all leak somewhat. Car has 3 matching tires which all seem to have matching tread. The left rear is a spare. The car has Centerline wheels. Also the brakes are 4 wheel disc. Car appears to have had some start to work on the body to prepare for paint. It seems that the car is painted in PPG primer. It also appears that the car was painted red at one time. The antenna is broke off in the rear. The odometer reads 84,627. Unsure of true mileage. 84,627 miles. October 5, 2009. |
